How do you adjust it to keep time? Seems like It's running much faster after you cleaned it. I'm making one in Meccano. Thanks.
Every day of science is a gold day!
nice collection of test equipment you have!
Happy pi day! That is super smooth!
Fascinating machine! That looks like a very complicated restoration. I am really enjoying watching you work through the process. It is great that you have this piece of your family history and are able to bring it back to life!
Yes this is the most complicated mechanical thing I’ve serviced. There were many points along the journey where I thought that it couldn’t get any more difficult… then it did, each subsystem is interconnected with the others to some degree. Also, it was apparent how features were added to a core or base design, layered on top with linkages throughout, such as the electric motor.
Thank you so much for posting it. I have wanted to try maritime mobile for sometime but didn't want to install a ground plane and make big modifications. Using the swim ladder is a brilliant idea :)
per thread? Pen thread?
I lke it ,RT841 !!
Cool!!
Amazing
Very cool piece of history. The mechanical operation is fascinating! Looking forward to part 2!
Big heavy project!
I have PRC-77 needing needing work. How do I contact you.
Why didn’t u actually talk thru the disassembly. This video is useless as is.
Gregory, are you still giving leads on old radio repairs over here? Thank you
Thank you for making this. This is a huge help to me many years later.
Third class presentation , Commentary very slow Camera very fast...
I worked for many years in audiocar repair... tuning for permeability... what a time! Greetings from southern Argentina!
Slot Cars!
I think there must be a doppler radar for measuring the speed of cars😄😄
It’s surprising which ones are fastest. I’ve setup a scale quarter mile track, will have to show that soon.
I always like the fastest things 💥💥💥
More to come?
First two columns with random numbers?
Have you By any chance ever , Tried out a Radio receiver BC-1023A 62-80 MHZ Vhf Fm uhf, But does not a a tuning capacitor, I have own for 10 years, How would I run it if you know How.or can I some how add a capacitor.
The pot in the input of RF circuit is before the AVC circuit exist.
How to record data from the LPF filter to the computer?
I assume its your daughter in previous videos. I wonder if she will ever know that in your garage. You are doing cheap basic SAR imagining. I system used by the military and highly classified l. Lol your a ledgend
I don’t know which one is the power wire. I tried to connect it guessing and got a huge spark and smoke
Gregory: What are you using for the RF Modulators, guessing external TTL controlled diode switches?
Phased arrays are wild
Slow down the camera please or put it on a tripod (you can use two hands that-away). I have the same model -Been Hiding it for 20 years. ;) You are my tutor and am anxious to follow you as you proceed. I did strip down the cabinet with acetone and fine steel wool. It was black from age, now I can see the beautiful grain.
I was a USMC 2841 Ground Radio Repairman 72-80. This is NOT a PRC-77. The first clue without looking at the ID plate is the switch does not have a "new squelch" position in addition to the regular Squelch position. 2nd of course is the ID plate says PRC-25. The radios are different in a few ways. Besides tone squelch, the PRC-25 has tubes. The PRC-77 is all solid state and has longer battery life and slightly better power. We modified the battery compartment in late 78-80 by sealing it from the main body with a silicone seal around the battery connector and adding a pressure relief valve to the battery cover. In high-heat areas, gas could build up, and when changing batteries the cover could blow up into your face from the pressure. Your unit is missing one module lifter. I still have two because they were often lost.
Thanks for sharing, your video has inspired me to investigate my Yaesu FL-101 transmitter to see if it can be integrated.
Used constantly in the Navy during Vietnam on blue water ships and shore stations. Great receiver for FSK mostly. On PBR's and Swift Boats in the delta, we used equipment that dated back to the 40's and 50's. R-390's is were the name " Boat Anchors " came from. However, due to the weight, I wouldn't used it as an anchor on anything less than a destroyer, otherwise it would drag you under.
No way you could fit that phone book listing source code into 36KB ROM of the AGC . Was it all a hoax ?
This gave me epilepsy
Cool
We have the same last name. Rare. I'm also into radios. Maybe we're related. De KE8RFU
"C" is decade of the 1960's, "9" is year of decade (1969), "O" is vehicle type (Fairlane/Torino), "A" is a Chassis engineering division part, "18806" is a radio, "B" is a design mod or version.
Thank you Rob! I must admit, the audio tone quality of this radio is terrific and sensitivity was amazing.
Hi, fun Video! the radiomuseum website indicates this is a radio manufactured in Romania. Select S722TE6 Electronica; București - Bucharest. However could have been used in the GDR (East Germany). Four years ago staying at a hotel near checkpoint Charlie I saw a couple of old tube radios typical for the day (wooden cabinets with cloth speaker grill covers table top size) at museums nearby. These were manufactured in East Germany (Die Deutsche Demokratische Republik) and were fine radios. Earlier in 1987 during my wife's scholarship time in the former west germany, our host family for the weekend near Leipzig had their antenna pointed toward West German (Bundesrepublik) television transmitters. Quite a feat since they were not all that close to them (either West Berlin to the north or the Federal Republic to the west.
Who is monitoring for these signals in 2022/2023?
Me
For disorted survivals, maybe who after get crash
Now all you need is a SINGARS V and an OE-254!
I operated one in sixth grade back in 1959. Mrs. Fry's husband brought one back from a WWII Navy ship that worked. When you cranked the machine, you heard ••• - - - •••
Can't hear what the f****k you are saying with all that noise. What you got there? A fan on a 1/2 horse motor?
I had a problem with my SWCC hands too. Mine were about 10 minutes behind on sync. The movement is good but it turns out the alignment of the minute hand's mounting hole was wrong. My minute hand has a center brass press fit insert that can be aligned (with some heat and force) so 0 minute is actually directly on 12. I guess someone in the past tried to turn it an hour backwards and it got stuck so they just pushed harder and messed up the hand alignment.
I know this is old now, but for late comers- The PTO isn’t perfectly linear even when it was new, that’s why they made it so easy to adjust the dial. If you get it perfect at one end of the band it’ll be out at the other, and different on every 1Mhz setting. The “CAL” is there to give you a nearby reference to adjust it when you need a more accurate measurement, such as when you’re recording the frequency of something you just heard while floating in a ship off the coast of hostile territory.. anyway I made the mistake of thinking of it like a PLL tuner until an old timer showed me how they operated it in the service, which was to only calibrate the dial when it really mattered by zero beating a good reference or the built in cal signal (which could also be wrong but was repeatable later if necessary). Most of the time it was off by a small amount. Apparently you were suppose to re-zero whenever you used the megacycle knob or went more than 500kcs on the kilo cycle knob.
You need some OTR playing back - plenty online to find!
